We are seeking a dynamic, professional, and passionate Maintenance/Mechanical Engineer to put down the tools and start a new career as a Training Advisor, for the Matamata/Tauranga region.
You will join Competenz, a Industry Training Organisation who work with over 3,500 companies and 20,000+ learners in 36 industries around New Zealand each year to build skills, careers, and businesses. Most learning takes place on-the-job.
Competenz partner with employers, apprentices, schools, training providers and assessors across the country to help New Zealanders and are geographically spread across New Zealand.
Reporting to the Regional Manager Apprenticeships you will be the Trusted Advisor in this region of New Zealand for their learners and customers in the Engineering sector. You will build and maintain positive relationships with the learners and employers whilst ensuring your engagement reflects a thorough understanding of your customers business.
As a member of the Training Advisors team, you will have absolute focus on the learner, setting them up for success and providing tailored support through their apprenticeship whilst also focusing on apprenticeship replenishment and growth through identification of wider business opportunities.
You will be joining a passionate and committed team and will need a high level of motivation and commitment to achieving successful outcomes. Your professional maturity will serve you well in this role as you bring to the team your ability to manage your time, schedule, and outcomes.

Strong Engineering industry experience and knowledge, and the ability to gain respect within the industry
A New Zealand Trade qualification
Relationship management experience and confidence.
Ideally a Workplace Assessor and/or Moderator (or ability to gain this qualification)
Would be fantastic if you came with an adult education certificate or Training delivery qualification and/or experience, but not a pre-requisite
Sound administrative skills
Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage own territory effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of the customer
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Understanding and knowledge of H&S legislation
A sound level of computer literacy; proficient in Microsoft office suite
A clean drivers licence as a vehicle will be provided for this role
