We are seeking an experienced and passionate Fraud Data Scientist to join our Fraud Analytics team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data science to develop machine learning models for fraud detection. Your work will play a critical role in safeguarding our bank and customers from fraudulent activities. **Te Tūranga | The role**: Your key responsibilities will include: - Identify improvement opportunities of fraud monitoring using data science expertise and leading their design and implementation. - Lead the advanced analysis and design of fraud detection models, including statistical and machine learning models in a production environment. This includes the model lifecycle of model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, retrain etc. - Implement and manage continuous improvement programs to enhance model performance over time. - Coach and mentor the Fraud Analytics team, enhancing their modelling capabilities and developing future data scientists. - Design and execute experiments with clear objectives, assumptions, limitations, and statistical validation. - Handle, explore, visualise, and clean data, and develop features to support fraud detection models. - Communicate complex data and analysis effectively, summarising findings in a concise manner. - Ensure that model related risks are mitigated using appropriate controls. - Work with fraud detection domain experts to convert fraud patterns/behaviours into model features to enhance model performance. - Maintain a strong network of data science professionals both internally and externally, attending conferences and participating in relevant communities. **Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?** - Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining fraud detection models. - Ability to lead and mentor a team, driving improvements and fostering growth. Strong understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques with practical experience in production settings. - Experience in banking fraud domain is ideal. - Strong SQL and advanced analytics skills - Expertise in Python, R, or Scala, and familiarity with relevant data science libraries. - Experience with handling data in a distributed environment is ideal - Strong collaborative skills, with a focus on sharing project briefs, results, and reusable code. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex analyses clearly and effectively. - Passion for data science, continuous learning, and challenging conventional thinking. **Te mahi ki ASB | Working for ASB** ASB is grounded in our values (caring, integrity, passion, courage and united).
