**Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity**
**Tauranga Position**
The Senior Advisor, Tauranga is accountable for leading the Tauranga tari work programme. Regional Directors, supported by Team Leaders maintain the strategic overview of the work in their region, ensuring that the work undertaken is aligned with Te Puni Kōkiri plans and goals.
**Waikato - Hamilton Position**
The Senior Advisor, Waikato-Hamilton is a bespoke role and is centred around Iwi Engagement & Iwi Accords. This role has a focus on:
- Planning and project management skills essential to take on key Iwi Accord project roles
- Balance responsibilities between leading engagement design and implementation processes
working with the Iwi Engagements team
- Leading across the public sector for Iwi Accords to understand and prioritise Iwi Māori issues, needs and opportunities impacting on Iwi wellbeing and development
- Providing credible, evidence-based advice that is anchored in the cultural context of Māori
- Linking the voice of Iwi Māori and whānau into Iwi Engagements and Iwi Accords
Both Senior Advisors lead work with agencies, organisations and providers to assist them to improve their outcomes for Māori.
The Senior Advisors:
- Act as an effective conduit for information both into and out of Māori communities to support Māori initiatives.
- Manage and analyse information at a local level on Māori views, aspirations and experiences, to contribute to Te Puni Kōkiri policy thinking.
- Assist whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and communities to develop and implement initiatives that will enable them to achieve long-term economic and social development.
- Manage local level contractual arrangements and are a leader in the relationships held with stakeholders.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to Advisors in their region.
- Inform investment decisions in partnership with the Investment and Policy colleagues.**Ko wai koe | About you**
We are looking for Senior Advisors who can support the Team Leaders to develop and lead a regional team to deliver high quality and influential results.
To be successful you will have:
- Experience in working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities.
- Proven effective use of project management disciplines to support work.
- Understanding of the government and the public service and public sector processes.
- Understanding of the government and the public service and public sector processes.
- Understanding the rationale and mechanisms of government intervention i.e. reasons for government intervention, the available intervention mechanisms and alternatives to government interventions.
- Understanding of the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi to the work being undertaken.
- Excellent communication skills including a conversational level of Te Reo Māori.
- Ability to identify, build and actively manage significant relationships, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences.
- A clean full motor vehicle driver's licence.
Preferred:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
