Due to expansive growth in the construction industry and a growing portfolio of work, Silverstrand is seeking a **Commercial Manager **to become a key part in shaping the future of our business alongside an experienced team. You will be based on our Auckland or Wellington office and employed on a permanent basis.

You will be responsible for delivering the commercial requirements of the project, ensuring accurate weekly/ monthly reporting, and forecasting of the project costs.

**About the role**

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Commercial Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the New Zealand commercial operations. Duties include:

- Ensuring contractual compliance across all projects
- Reviewing and negotiating contract terms and conditions
- Compiling contractual correspondence in relation to EOT’s, variations and commercial matters
- Identifying and mitigating risks and risk exposure across contracts/ projects
- Negotiating with clients on contract and commercial matters on the projects
- Reviewing of all claims and commercial matters
- Preparation & reviewing of subcontractor packages, scopes, lettings, and procurement schedules
- Management of the subcontractors including the assessing, appointing and audits of their ability to meet the needs for the contract works
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to build effective relationships and communicate with a diverse range of people both internal and external; ability to communicate effectively with in negotiations
- Support and co-ordinate the review and timely approval (or dispute) of payment claims submitted by subcontractors
- Evaluate subcontractor variations and claims
- Cost control and review of forecasting
- Monthly cost analysis of project performances
- Investigate project financial issues, provide financial and/or commercial solutions and assist the operation team with claim negotiations

**Essential Skills & Experience**
- Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics degree or diploma
- 8+ years’ experience
- Good working knowledge of construction procedures for cost control, time, quality, and safety
- Subcontractor negotiations
- Exposure to Adjudication Claims, Arbitration Claims
- Forecasting and commercial reporting
- Reviewing and agreeing contracts
- End of Month Reporting to Senior Management

**Salary**: Minimum $140,000 - Maximum $180,000 (dependent on experience)
