Help drive innovation in the transport sector to accelerate the shift towards a low carbon, safe and healthy transport system for Aotearoa New Zealand
- Work across Waka Kotahi, with central and local government, industry and the research sector, to embed new thinking, systems and tools, and build capability, to deliver a transport system that is future ready.

The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahiWe have a unique opportunity for a Principal Advisor to join our Future Transport team supporting a programme of work to enable Waka Kotahi and the land transport sector to realise the benefits of transport innovation. With a genuine passion and curiosity about future transport solutions, business models and technologies, you'll be adept in providing advice, thought leadership and practical expertise to influence the future direction and design of our transport system. Your work will involve scanning and monitoring the development of new and emerging transport technologies, innovations and business models to provide insights on their potential to benefit the New Zealand transport system, as well as the challenges they might bring and, where changes might be needed to enable their safe integration. About you | Ko koe tēneiWith great relationship skills, research and analytical experience and a knowledge of how the transport system functions, you can help others to see the big picture and understand the potential of transport innovations, including their benefits or limitations. You'll also bring:

- Extensive knowledge of new and emerging future transport technologies, innovations and business models along with their potential benefits, risks and challenges with deployment
- A knowledge of the transport system and how it is managed and operated
- Experience in developing and leading future focused initiatives to inform strategies, planning, policy and regulatory functions
- Demonstrated thought leadership
- Experience in a principal or senior role that required a high level of strategic, analytical and conceptual thinking in a complex environment
