**He angitutanga | About the role**

As a Strategy and Investment Advisor, you will be critical in supporting the Strategy and Investment function of the Heritage and Visitor Systems team. You will contribute to system improvement initiatives, including setting the 10 year direction for DOCs visitor portfolio, and support Ministerial priorities such as improving access to hunting and fishing experiences on Public Conservation Land and Waters (PCLW).

Key responsibilities:

- Support creation of annual business planning guidance for operations and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) options on spending.
- Develop and refine heritage and visitor strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to multi-year work plans, focusing on system changes, leveraging strengths, and resource allocation.
- Participate in environmental scanning and develop performance indicators.
- Support the review of work programmes and long-term strategies in response to changing government priorities and environmental contexts.
- Improve training for rangers regarding access issues, understanding, and tools related to hunting permits and conservation land management.

The role will be based out of our national office in Wellington, though we will consider other locations for the right person. Please specify in your covering letter where you'd prefer to be based.

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

- At least two years of relevant work experience and a university qualification in policy, geography, environmental management, or a similar field.
- Two to three years of experience working in the public service or leading a workstream in a programme of work.
- Experience in supporting long-term strategic planning and project management.
- Strong critical thinking and writing skills.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills, including strategic analysis.
- Experience working in partnership with whanau, hapu, and iwi, and understanding the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi.

The salary range for this position is $79,656- $100,639 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
