**Mō mātou | About us**

As **Te Tai Ōhanga - The Treasury**, we are committed to tiakitanga to make New Zealand a better place for people today and in the future. We safeguard New Zealand's finances and are the Government's trusted economic advisor. Our vision is to lift living standards for all New Zealanders.

The **Financial Markets (FM)** team leads the Treasury's advice on financial system issues and insurance policy. We also administer the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act, support engagement with the Trans-Tasman Banking Council and Council of Financial Regulators, and review spending in the Commerce and Consumer Affairs portfolio.

Our work programme matters. Over the past year we've been involved in the review of the Reserve Bank Act, the development of new regulatory regimes for deposit takers and insurers, and changes to EQC settings, amongst other things. We're also looking at how the government should think about the impact of climate change on insurance markets in New Zealand, and the social and economic implications of that.

**Kōrero mō te tūranga |About the role**

We are looking for an experienced manager to lead this energetic, collaborative and high-performing Treasury team.

You will have a strong focus on the wellbeing and career development of your team members.

As Manager, Financial Markets Policy, you will help the team connect to Treasury's wider work programme to ensure that economic, fiscal and financial market perspectives are well integrated into our advice to the Government. You will engage directly with Ministers and senior leaders across the public and private sector.

As well as building strong relationships internally and externally, you will be part of the Economic System Directorate management team, which has a strong focus on collaboration and collective management and puts our people at the centre of everything we do.

**You will bring to the role**:

- An effective and contemporary leadership style that is consultative and understands the big picture, leads by example and empowers and helps others remain focused and confident in ambiguous and changing circumstances
- Excellent people leadership skills - someone who enjoys coaching, mentoring and developing others to build their capability
- Capability as a strategic and critical thinker - and the ability to understand the broader impacts of decisions and anticipate the Minister's needs and ensure the team delivers highly quality, timely and influential advice
- Exceptional relationship management skills and credibility to engage with and influence senior decision makers whilst connecting issues and being aware of changing environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent the Treasury in senior forums
- Resilience and an ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, sensitive, changeable and ambiguous environment
- A genuine commitment to inclusion and diversity and lifting Te Tai Ōhanga's Māori policy capability.

**Ko ngā hua | What we offer**
- Interesting, diverse and stimulating work that addresses the big opportunities and complex challenges facing New Zealand
- A workplace that values diversity and inclusion and recognises the value of your lived experiences
- Flexible work arrangements and encouragement to enjoy a positive work/life balance, and a range of health and wellbeing initiatives
- 5 weeks annual leave for permanent full-time employees (pro-rated for part-time employees)
- The appointing range for this role is $195,983 - $230,568. This is dependent on skills and experience.
