**THE OPPORTUNITY**
- Opportunity to work with a multi-disciplined team supporting a large-scale fermentation facility
- Responsible for development, optimisation and transfer of current and new production processes and tests for developing animal vaccines with multimillion dollar worldwide markets.
- A full-time regular role based in Upper Hutt, New Zealand

The Bio Technology Solutions (BTS) Scientist drives or participates in multiple projects relating to the development and improvement of animal vaccines, reporting to the BTS Manager at Upper Hutt.

Of critical importance to the successful execution of this role is good scientific discipline, good organizational skills alongside the ability to work well within a team.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Development, optimisation, transfer and improvement of existing biological manufacturing processes and product quality
- Development, validation, transfer and improvement of immunological tests.
- Production support: trouble shooting production problems, provision of bacterial seed cultures to production, maintenance of seed culture collection
- Product/process development and product/process technology transfers within site and between sites
- Immunological test support: trouble shooting QC test issues, production and validation of test reagents, provision of test reagents, test development and validation, and test technology transfers within site and between sites.

**WHAT YOU MUST HAVE**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary degree in relevant Biological scientific or engineering discipline
- Min. 2-3 years relevant post-graduate experience: e.g. Bacterial Fermentation Scientist, Microbiologist, Biotechnologist
- Experience with some or all of the following: clostridial fermentation, process optimisation, process scale-up, technology transfer, scientific project management and immunology
- Practical experience in fermentation, scale-up and biological processing
- Strong communication, scientific project management and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) / Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
