This job exists to support the delivery of the biosecurity activity in particular marine and aquatic pest education programmes.
**Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role**
We are looking for a Biosecurity organisational support in the Biosecurity team with a focus on Freshwater and Marine biosecurity education. We are looking for someone with good communication skills, sound commuter /GPS/ GIS skills. This is a key role which will see you strengthening and improving the Biosecurity network that support the Top of the North Marine Biosecurity Partnership.
This is a full time, 12-month fixed term opportunity.
You will be capable of maintaining existing working relationships, have good written and verbal skills, and have sound judgement and initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn and grow in a fun place to work.
- Development of Marine pest ID guide to educate marine users
- Engagement with key stakeholders on Marine pests issues. This would be attending marine events such as fishing tournaments and holding workshops.
- Undertake survey of marine users to gain level of awareness of Marine pests
- Develop new marine and freshwater pest collateral with the comms team
- Maintain marine/freshwater pest information signage around boat ramps.
- Monthly reporting on Marine and freshwater pest awareness trends
- Report any sightings of marine or freshwater pest to the relevant team.
**Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience**
- A valid driver’s licence required
- Diploma in Marine sciences (desirable)
- Knowledge in Marine and Freshwater pests
- Good public speaking skills
- Report writing skills
