The BOPRC Harbourmaster Team are anticipating a busy summer on the water and are seeking two (2) Organisational Support Assistants - Safer Boating Senior roles to aid in promoting safer boating throughout the rohe.

This is a part-time, fixed term opportunity from 10 December February 2026, based in Tauranga.

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role

Duties will include:

  • Supervision of the Safer Boating Summer Assistants (team of 4)
  • Promotion and Education of Safer Boating message to the community
  • Completing boat ramp education throughout the Bay of Plenty region
  • Assisting with research and compliance surveys at strategic locations across the Bay of Plenty
  • Delivering Safer Boating Resources around the region.

Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience

Ideal applicants will:

  • Have a great (positive) attitude
  • Be comfortable and confident speaking to the general public
  • Be experienced in working as part of a team and providing support to other team members
  • Be willing and capable of working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Hold a current, full driver's licence (manual vehicles)
  • Hold a Coastguard Boating Day Skipper certificate (or be willing to complete this as part of the role)
  • Be studying towards or interested in a career in Maritime.

Applicants must be available to work over the Christmas/New Year period.
