Central Otago District Council has a unique opportunity for an asset management professional to set the direction for road asset management in an organisation that has embraced advanced asset management and is willing to try new approaches.

We are seeking a Senior Roading Asset Engineer to play a lead role in road asset management planning and strategy development to ensure our roading network meets the needs of the community now, and in the future.

You will be experienced in roading asset management, be analytical, and a strategic thinker. You will also have strong communication skills, be willing to take ownership of issues and solutions, and be confident of working with mínimal supervision.

**As the successful applicant you will have**:

- a tertiary qualification in engineering
- 5 years relevant work experience
- Knowledge and experience in use of asset management systems, and working with deterioration models and outputs an advantage
- Experienced in collection of asset condition data.
- Ability to think strategically and plan for the future
- Experience in working within a local authority and with communities
- An understanding of council and roading planning processes.
- Strong customer service focus
- Able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing reports.
- Well organised and consistent in setting, prioritising and meeting deadlines
