Do you have the diabetes specialist nursing skills and commitment to clinical best practice we are looking for?
We are looking for a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) to work in our Diabetes Adult Nursing team.
- You will work primarily with adults with diabetes and their whanau in a multi-disciplinary team.
- You will engage with key in and outpatient services and external partners to provide educational and clinical support for safe patient care and management.
- You will support other nurses, and team members with strong teamwork and educational and development needs while maintaining your own
- You will lead quality improvement as needed by the service to ensure the highest level of safe and competent practice. You will be based in Wellington Regional Hospital but may need to work across campuses as needed by the service. You will be expected to have or gain within a limited timeframe the pre prescribing post-graduate nursing papers. There may be the possibility of doing the prescribing practicum.

At the Endocrine, Diabetes and Research Centre we are a specialist regional Hospital and Health Service department with teams located in the Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Community Hospital and Kapiti Health Centre.
We are a team of nurses, allied health, doctors and administration support staff working together to achieve better health outcomes for different patient groups living with endocrine and diabetes conditions. Our research team leads some of the key research areas in the field.
Moū - About you
- Have significant diabetes nursing experience and worked full time in the field for at least three years (at least one year working in Aotearoa),
- Have strong leadership skills and be solution focused
- Leads quality improvements and practice excellence
- Possess effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Have the pre prescribing post graduate papers or working towards
- Have or be working towards a current senior nurse expert PDRP and/or diabetes nurse specialist accreditation on the National Diabetes Knowledge and Skills Framework in the Aotearoa College of Diabetes Nurses.
