An exciting opportunity has been created in our innovative and expanding Child Health Service. We are looking for a motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our busy Paediatric multi-disciplinary team. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work alongside a team to provide expert care to patients and their whānau with Eating Disorder conditions. With a focus on inpatient medical stabilisation treatment plans and supporting their transition home.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist, will join a team of experts and will be integral in improving patient and whānau care across the Capital & Coast District. The CNS will build relationships with regional providers to facilitate timely intervention and arrange ongoing specialist care for patients and their whānau as they return home.
- Takes a lead role in researching, developing, implementing and evaluating standards of care, in line with evidenced-based practice and in the inpatient, outpatient and community setting.
- Leads the development of service specific pathways, protocols and guidelines, in accordance with relevant national and international standards and guidelines.
- Provides nurse-led services in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, and community. This role also encompasses the education and support of health workers caring for patients with the defined speciality conditions, (this includes medical, nursing, allied health and whānau), through both informal and formal teaching sessions.
- Improves coordination and quality of care throughout the organisation for children and young people with Eating Disorders promoting the implementation of evidence based care.
- Participates in the planning and delivery of education programmes for health professionals that support and enhance management of Eating Disorders.Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

Moū - About you
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as an RN and has current APC
- Post graduate qualification - Minimum PG Diploma (you will be supported to work towards Masters) or PG Masters
- Holds Senior/Expert portfolio on PDRP
- Extensive Paediatric nursing experience and knowledge in Eating Disorders with a demonstrated high level of clinical competence
- An ability to present to groups/individuals
- An ability to contribute to policy review
- Commitment to provide equitable, expert care to patients and their whānau living with Eating Disorders
- Demonstrates a high standard of communication and collaboration skillsE pā ana ki a tatou - About us
