An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of Te Whatu Ora Waikato, Hospital & Community Equity Directorate as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the WHIRI Programme. You will be involved in the development of new ways of working within the health care system affecting those with long term conditions, models of care that address inequities and support Maaori and Pacific to access quality healthcare.

The Whānau Hauora Integrated Response Initiative (WHIRI), is a kaupapa Māori model of care that supports whānau. It involves a collaborative approach that includes hospital services, Iwi, Māori and Pacific providers, community groups and wider primary care. Waikato Hospital serves the largest Māori population and third largest Pacific people’s population in the country. The WHIRI programme of work embraces Mātauranga Māori and Te Ao Māori in order to be effective for our Māori communities and fulfil our Te Tiriti obligations. The Clinical Equity team is a Kaupapa Maaori service that is committed to delivering positive health outcomes for the community that we serve.

**Mōu | About you**

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand; inclusive of scope of practice
- A current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Significant clinical experience, a minimum of five years
- Expert/ Senior level of practice on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme
- Completed a postgraduate qualification or equivalent
- Understanding of Tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori and the ability to engage appropriately in Māori settings
- A strong understanding of system drivers of health inequities
- A strong advocate for improvement of Māori and Pacific health equity
- Involvement in research, teaching and innovation that has changed clinical practice
