**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
There is an exciting opportunity for a Kaiurungi to lead and support ākonga Māori including delivery of successful pre-assessment and transition of ākonga into first year tertiary study with a particular focus on year one undergraduate completion and retention. You will play an integral role in the delivery of UC's leading edge Māori student retention and achievement strategy by assisting in designing and delivering evidence-based Māori student development initiatives, services and advice that orient and transition students through their studies. You will also assist in developing and leading ākonga engagement initiatives that enhance the ākonga Māori experience to optimise their personal, social, and academic success.
**Mōu | Who You Are**
To be successful in this role you will have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to engage successfully with diverse ākonga Māori, whānau, kura and other Māori community members including iwi, rūnanga and organisations. You will also have:
- experience delivering evidence-based recruitment, transition, and retention initiatives
- demonstrable understanding of the academic, social and cultural needs of ākonga Māori
- a commitment to enhancing bicultural competence and confidence
- a recognition of Te Ao Ngāi Tūāhuriri - values, tikanga (processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions and valuing Te Reo Māori.
