**WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR**:
A talented experienced senior ecologist to lead our high performing and motivated South Island ecology team in our Dunedin office.

A person who has a commitment to providing fit-for-purpose information to support good decisions and is a strategic thinker who relishes working at the interface between evidence and decision making.

Someone who puts people first, values diversity, and has potential to develop and grow into a team leader.

**MUST HAVE**:

- Consultancy experience (desirable).
- Strong New Zealand ecology knowledge.
- Experience in ecological effects assessments, management and restoration of natural areas.
- Ability to think strategically, and work proactively towards Wildlands Strategic vision.
- Passion and commitment to excellent leadership with proven people management skills.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to build productive working relationships and work collaboratively.
- Experience in working with ambiguity and dealing with complex problems.
- An understanding of the importance of other knowledge bases and information sources (including mtauranga Mori).
- A PhD (strongly preferred) or other postgraduate qualification in ecology. In particular, good knowledge and experience of New Zealand botany and plant ecology, restoration biology and ecological management or expertise in another field of ecology.
