Waimarino Education Trust runs School programmes, Holiday programmes and After school care programmes. Our OSCAR (Holiday and After School) Programmes operate from Waimarino Adventure Park all year round.

The key purpose of this role is to ensure ALL children who attend our OSCAR programmes have a fun, safe and educational time. You will also be a senior staff member, picking up children from school, driving in the holidays, and being responsible for junior staff and volunteer leaders when leading activities onsite or offsite.

**Key areas of responsibility are**:
1. OSCAR supervision and childcare

2. Driving after school and in the holidays

3. Providing support to junior staff as they upskill

**The primary indicators of success in this role are**:
1. Prioritising safety in all aspects of your work

2. Being an encouraging, responsible role model for children and younger staff

3. Ensuring each child has a positive experience at Waimarino

Duties include, but are not limited to:
**Childcare**
- Working closely with children aged 5-13yrs on regular basis
- Address all incidents with empathy and compassion
- Assisting with basic childcare, including but not limited to providing first aid, assisting children with their basic needs.
- Aiding character development, building confidence around water and upholding the Waimarino values.
- Ensure a high level of customer service and professionalism is maintained
- Create and maintain positive relationships with children and parents/caregivers

**Leader responsibilities**
- Be a team leader, role model and motivator
- Supervising children in afterschool and holiday programmes while onsite at Waimarino adventure Park or offsite on day trips, being the sole senior leader onsite when required
- Ensure the correct and proper processes and ratios are in place at all times

**Park activities**
- Lifesaving supervision of children while swimming and using river-end adventure activities
- Instructing and supervising children on rock climbing, kayaking and all other adventure park activities
- Set up and dismantle equipment and/or materials as required
- Close down routines i.e. rubbish emptying, toilet cleaning

**Driving**
- Driving and transporting children afterschool and in the holiday programme

Transport children from school to the programme as required

**Prerequisites**:

- At least 20 years old
- Able to supervise children safely and effectively
- Able to be the responsible over-20 leader onsite
- Able to lead onsite and offsite activities in the school holidays safely and effectively
- Able to drive children in a car or van
- Hold a clean, full drivers license
- Hold a valid first aid certificate (workplace first aid or higher)
