Company Background
Network Waitaki is a dynamic electricity distribution and energy services company dedicated to powering our local economy. Due to continued success, they are growing out their Accounts team and the opportunity has arisen to support the CFO as Accounts Manager, running the growing Accounts team

**The Role**

As a senior member of our Finance & Regulatory team, the Accounting Manager will lead the financial accounting activities of the company. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role involves overseeing month-end processes, general ledger management, tax obligations, cash management, audit coordination, and annual report preparation. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will manage a team responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset processes.
Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure full financial compliance and adherence to policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Manage month-end processes, including chart of accounts maintenance and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset processes.
- Oversee IRD and ACC obligations, including accurate and timely filings.
- Prepare monthly reports for management, CFO, CEO, and the Board.
- Coordinate with the Management Accountant on job costing and GL interactions.
- Prepare annual financial statements for publication and facilitate external audits.
- Maintain the RAB asset register and provide financial input for regulatory disclosures.
- Ensure accurate accounting for fixed assets, including reconciliation of capital work in progress accounts.
- Fulfill other duties as required by management and company policies.

As you master your remit, your role will evolve to take on additional responsibilities across the wider group and see you more highly involved.
Key Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Chartered Accountant qualification preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years post-CA.
- At least 3 years of managerial experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and New Zealand tax requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably MS Business Central.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to anticipate challenges and respond effectively with initiative and professionalism.
- Membership with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
