**Rautaki Haumitanga**: Strategic Investment Team
We set the direction for investment in tertiary education through external and internal guidance, implement government strategies, co-lead the Budget process, support cross-agency work and feed into tertiary education policy. Our work is all about making sure government, board and stakeholder priorities are advanced by the tertiary education sector. A significant part of our current work is focused on the Reform of Vocational Education along with supporting our learner success framework.
**He angitūtanga**: About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Strategic Investment, this role is one of four Principal Advisor roles in the team responsible for work programmes. This role offers lots of scope for forward thinking, stakeholder engagement, and leadership. You will be:
- Leading strategic investment projects to actively shape and influence the tertiary education and careers system to achieve our longer-term strategic goals.
- Using data and information from our customers - learners, industry bodies, education providers and others in the public sector - to develop implementable strategies.
- Working closely with the Ōritetanga - Learner Success Team to make a significant difference for Māori and Pacific learners.
- Engaging at senior levels across the TEC and with other agencies such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
**He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for**:
The team has close links across the business to the people, teams, projects and functions that are critical to driving success through our careers and investment levers. As a Principal Advisor you will lead work programmes internally and externally. Your relationships with colleagues and stakeholders will be the key to your success along with the support and mentoring of senior advisors.
**We are looking for someone who will bring the following**:
- Strategy and/or implementation experience at a Principal level - ideally you will have led successful public sector projects.
- Collaboration skills that enable you to work with the team and key stakeholders to identify and confirm the goals and objectives.
- The ability to maintain focus and provide direction to team members, be a champion for the project.
- The ability to coach and mentor more junior members of the team.
- Knowledge of public policy and the tertiary education and careers systems.
- Strong influencing skills to obtain support from key stakeholders of the project
- Strong communication skills to keep team members and stakeholders informed of key developments, program decisions, issues, and changes
- Knowledge of the TEC environment, its current state and processes would be an advantage.

The salary range for this position starts from $121,148 up to $142,527+. This salary is negotiable depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
