**About the role**

We are looking for a Registered Nurse who is a team player and enjoys the challenge of a constantly changing environment. If you're highly motivated, energetic and outgoing this role is for you. You must be able to relate to a wide variety of people from different cultures and work within a multidisciplinary team. This position involves the provision of population and personal health services to support quota refugees integrate to the health system, health promotion/education, and disease investigation to minimise the effects of communicable disease and disease outbreaks in our communities.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

You'll be joining a passionate and supportive Public Health Nursing team that is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS), working collectively to promote health, protect communities, and advance equity across the region.

Public Health Nurses in our team work closely with:

- Medical Officers of Health
- Colleagues within our public health service
- Hospital and Specialist Services
- Hauora Māori Tūmatanui - NPHS Te Ikaroa
- Pacific Health Services - NPHS Te Ikaroa
- Patients
- Community
- Other NPHS services (e.g. immunisation, health protection, health promotion)
- Community organisations and government agencies

Our service takes a whānau-centred, strengths-based approach, supporting children and young people not only with their health needs, but also addressing the wider determinants of health.

**About you**
- Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate
- 3+ years clinical experience, Authorised Vaccinator or interest in completing training
- Hold a minimum of a proficient portfolio in an approved PDRP or equivalent with a commitment to continue through the programme
- Ability to work within a team and autonomously
- Proven experience and competence using Patient Management Systems
- An eye for detail and commitment for continuous quality improvement
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Awareness of key Public Health issues in New Zealand and/or an interest and enthusiasm for public health
- Technical/clinical public health nurse knowledge in the follow-up of communicable disease
- Experience dealing with stakeholders and patients
- Well-developed time management skills to enable deadlines to be managed and met
- Full, clean New Zealand drivers licence
