We have an exciting opportunity for an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist to join our team at Christchurch Women - s Hospital. This is a fixed-term parental leave cover, ideal for a passionate SMO who thrives in a busy tertiary setting and enjoys working across a broad generalist scope. **Starting June 2025 to July 2026.**

You - ll work with a dynamic team, with opportunities to develop your skills in areas such as ambulatory gynaecology, high-risk obstetrics, or medical education.

**About the Role**
As an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist, you will work across general Obstetrics and Gynaecology services, including:
- Antenatal, gynaecology, colposcopy, and outpatient hysteroscopy clinics
- Acute and elective gynaecology procedures
- Participation in the on-call roster
- Opportunities to contribute to service development, research, or education based on your interests and experience
This role is based in a supportive, well-established team that provides tertiary-level care to approximately 6,000 birthing women annually, as well as a broad range of gynaecological services.
**About the Team / Service / Location**
Our team of Senior Medical Officers are primarily generalists who provide comprehensive O&G services to the region. Christchurch Women - s Hospital is a tertiary referral centre and is also the South Island referral centre for Gynaecological Oncology. We are a training site for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).

**About You**
You need to be an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with:
- Vocational registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- A strong generalist O&G background with confidence across both Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Experience and interest in contributing to service delivery, education, and clinical excellence
- A collaborative, patient-centred approach to care
- Willingness to participate in the on-call roster
