**About us**:
Te Wānanga o Aotearoa has provided a uniquely Māori space within the New Zealand tertiary sector for over 30 years, enhancing the skills and employment opportunities of more than 300,000 graduates. We take pride in the fact that we provide an education grounded in mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) which enables our tauira to make effective and valuable contributions to their communities throughout Aotearoa.
**About the position**:
The overarching objective of the programme is to give tauira the opportunity to experience entry level trade education in building, construction and carpentry. The programme is taught using Tikanga Māori (Māori principles) of whanaungatanga (family relationships), rangatiratanga (leadership), tūhonohono (engagement) and mauitanga (innovation). This programme is also part of a project that is aimed at upskilling whānau who are based in the rohe of Maniapoto and to support them into mahi.
You will be involved in a delivering a programme that is both theory and practice based that places emphasis on skills required for a wide range of building construction tasks.
**About you**:
To be considered for this role you will hold or be able to gain:
- Certificate Level 3 or higher qualification in carpentry (or equivalent)
- Site Safe Building Construction Passport
- a clean Full NZ Drivers’ License and ideally hold a Passenger Endorsement
We can help support you in the following qualifications:
- NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5
- NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Level 5
