**Mō tēnei mahi | About this job**
We are seeking a Kaiako to deliver our **_Certificate in Māori Governance Level 4_** programme, which involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress.
You will be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira, implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements. Creating a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning environment will be essential to the success of this role.
This programme will develop skills and confidence for Māori governors within a Kaupapa Māori context, enhancing leadership skills, governance understanding, and preparing for successful succession in governance roles.
This is a **_Fixed Term _**_(ending 18 December 2026) _**_Full-time _**_(37.5 hours per_week) position, based out of the **_Te Kuiti_** campus. Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings
**Mōu | About you**
You will play a critical role in inspiring and empowering tauira to understand and engage with the principles and practices of Māori governance, deeply rooted in tikanga (customs) and kawa (protocols). You will be someone who is passionate about fostering a learning environment that respects and elevates Māori values, encourages critical thinking, and cultivates leadership aligned with the mana (authority) and mātauranga (knowledge) of iwi, hapū, and whānau.
Ideally, you will have:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Māori / Business Studies or comparative equivalent
- NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
- Certificate in First Aid
- Full and current NZ Driver’s License (Class 1)
- 5+ years’ experience in Māori Governance, Leadership, and /or related roles
- Experience teaching adults
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
