**Description**:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Logistics Supervisor to join our team at Sanford, Havelock. You will support Logistics operations by driving efficiency and capability through the supervision and oversight of the logistics team. Working closely with the Logistics Manager, Production Co-Ordinator, and Quality Manager to drive performance improvement, productivity, quality, and recovery with focus on teamwork, hygiene, and initiatives.
This role is responsible for leading and coordinating team members within the logistics team on the Havelock processing site. This includes ensuring a safe working environment, people development through coaching and training, quality and environmental standards, and efficient processes, ensuring that you and your team are consistently striving for and meeting the highest level of business excellence.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee bag room operations and packaging and consumable supply to factory.
- Ensure the cold chain is always maintained and alert the Processing Manager or Quality team if any issues arise.
- Provide cover for the Logistics Manager as required.
- Manage the despatch of export orders - ordering empty containers, scheduling load outs, completing load documentation.
- Manage the despatch of domestic orders - liaising with sales and marketing, scheduling, and booking transport.
- Communication with other supervisors and managers to ensure efficient operation of Logistics demands.
- Actively promote and support Sanfords vision and mission within the team by aligning decisions and production plans with Sanfords strategy.
- Lead the team through example, promoting and role modelling the Sanford values, expectations, and behaviors in everything you do.
- Work closely with Team Leaders to manage teams performance through regular communication, positive reinforcement, coaching, and support.
- Accurately record, maintain, and authorise departmental time and attendance records.
- Lead and coordinate production activities to ensure the Team meets/exceeds KPIs within established deadlines and cut-off times.
- Communicate effectively with the other stakeholders regarding the supply of mussels entering the site to preserve quality, maintain receival compliance and minimise any down time to processing.
- Ensure relevant equipment is always ready when needed (e.g., bins, cleaning equipment, etc).
- Maintain hygiene standards of equipment and machinery and liaise with Quality/Engineering to report any hygiene or equipment function issues that arise.
- Complete inductions and coordinate training of new staff against standard procedures and provide help and guidance to employees to ensure optimal production while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Facilitate cross-training and job rotation to promote skill development, uplift team capabilities and ensure adequate backfill coverage is available.
**About you**
- 3+ years experience in a supervisory role in a mussel processing environment or similar
- Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.
- Demonstrates ability to use computer tools and to easily grasp new computer programmes, particularly production environment tools such as order tracking and inventory management.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and manage teams and drive results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and build strong relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements and make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Forklift License preferred or the ability to obtain one.
