**About the team**

The Financial Reporting Team delivers external reporting and tax compliance, treasury back and middle office operations, oversees customer credit, maintains a robust financial control framework, and supports the business with accounting and tax advice.

Our wider Finance Group also includes financial planning and reporting, business partnering, financial operations, asset accounting, and finance systems.

**About the opportunity**

As Manager Financial Reporting you will lead a team of four, to deliver Transpower's external financial statutory reporting, including delivering the half and full-year financial statements. You will also ensure the effective operation of the financial internal control framework, compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and all tax matters.

The role will also see you managing Transpower's Treasury back and middle office operations, Customer Credit monitoring and reporting processes, and managing the insurance reporting for our captive insurance company and RBNZ returns.

**What you'll bring**

We are seeking a great people manager with proven financial management experience either in a comparable scaled regulated organisation or relevant chartered accountancy firm experience. You will possess exceptional finance knowledge and experience, including having an excellent understanding of both manual and system controls and reconciliations, combined with the ability to lead and implement change.

**To be considered, your CV and cover letter will be underpinned by a relevant degree and demonstrate**:

- deep technical knowledge of New Zealand and International Financial Reporting Standards.
- good understanding of, and experience in, financial valuation, management and control of treasury instruments and derivatives.
- good understanding of the NZ Tax system and how it relates to expenses and capital expenditure, including Income tax, GST, RWT, and FBT requirements.
- experience in the design and delivery of Financial/Internal controls with a demonstrated ability to review and continuously improve financial controls.
- intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills to financial model development stage with a high level of working competence with wider Microsoft packages, including Office 365 (Word and PowerPoint).

**Whilst not essential the following would be ideal and viewed favourably**:

- a general understanding of the electricity industry's structure, regulation, and operation.
- experience in a large, capital-intensive, infrastructure-based business, and an understanding of financial management in a regulatory environment.
