**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
NZGP is a branch within The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We have a vision for New Zealand’s government procurement to be fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient. It will deliver more value and respond to changing government priorities.

While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system - government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with. We are less of a procurement shop than a shop filled with data, systems, communications, contract and project management people who love procurement. And yes, we have some procurement specialists

This is a critical role within NZGP, you will be a specialist senior team member in the Strategy, Policy & Governance unit, the NZGP branch is committed to a recognised and active partnership between the Crown and Tangata Whenua (Māori) to realise better outcomes for Māori and all New Zealanders. This role will be responsible for improving the positioning of NZGP for its obligations as a Treaty partner with authenticity and integrity and to enable Māori interests.

› An ability to demonstrate and understanding of current Government policy and community views on Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi.
› A deep knowledge and understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
› You will have an actively network and be capable of initiating discussions with key stakeholders to gain and share understanding of emerging issues and develop/test ideas.
› Build strategic alliances with key Māori government and non-government representatives to ensure MBIE’s views are influential in their decision-making.
› Represent NZGP and whole-of-Ministry views and protect NZGP and MBIE’s reputation in all external interactions.
› You will build and maintains positive internal relationships to increase capability and confidence of NZGP’s mahi when partnering with Māori.
› You will be capable of providing robust advice and intellectual leadership on the strategies and engagement that recognises te ao Māori world views, choices and constraints, anticipates needs, predicts and plans for potentially controversial or sensitive issues.
› A sound communicator on complex engagement issues and concepts clearly and succinctly.
› You will be a strong leader with the ability to use different interpersonal styles and communication techniques, expectations management, and targeted influencing of senior leaders to gain co-operation, support, effect change and inspire others.

We love to see contracts that build in targets in to reduce emissions, support workers and businesses, or reduce waste and strengthen relationships with iwi.
