This is an exceptional opportunity to make impact on our organisation's procurement practices and drive innovation through data, systems and capability initiatives.
As the Principal Advisor in Procurement Capability and Insights, you will play a pivotal role providing thought leadership and expertise in shaping the future of our procurement tools, practices, and capability program. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external partners to deliver measurable results that align with our strategic objectives.
The role will lead the provision and enhancement of tools, templates and work practices that improve the way the procurement function operates, monitoring and developing the procurement groups capability and competency profile.

Mōhou ake | About you
You're a strategic thinker with a passion for procurement excellence and have a keen eye for data-driven insights and the ability to drive change.
You will be a key member of the procurement team, driving procurement excellence and continuous improvement within the Ministry and the Education sector. You will use your procurement passion and expertise to continually enhance procurement capabilities, systems and tools.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
**You will also offer**:
- Experience and understanding of how to build capability in a cross-functional teams or organizational context
- Bring energy and enthusiasm to promote and shape how procurement can improve outcomes, not just adherence to process
- Have experience in doing things differently to meet the needs of different stakeholders
- Use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making
- Think strategically at an agency level, identifying issues through a range of lenses and stakeholder perspectives; and recognise broader cross-agency implications and connections
- Significant relationship building experience including the ability to provide specialist advice, influence and consult with a broad range of stakeholders in the public and private sectors
