**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

The purpose of the Nurse Director Surgical & Children’s Services Capital, Coast is to provide strategic and clinical leadership for nursing within the directorate supporting acute patient flow, by working in partnership with Operational/ Service Managers and Clinical Leaders. The role provides professional support to the nurses with the service and supports operational matters to meet patient/’ clinical quality standards, safe staffing (such as Care Capacity Demand Management), leading the development of new models of care between hospital and community, and influencing enhanced outcomes whilst contributing effective delivery of key goals.

The Nurse Director Acute Surgical & Children’s is a member of the District Nursing and Midwifery Leadership (NAML) Team and is part of a leadership collective which has prime responsibility for supporting the Chief Nursing Officer’s (CNO) Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District role of providing strategic nursing and midwifery leadership across the health system - hospital, primary and aged residential care.

While the Nurse Director role is primarily based at Capital, Coast as part of the NAML team you will be expected to support initiatives across the district.
