**About the Role**
The Specialty Clinical Nurse - Acute flow has a sound understanding of the MAPU (Medical Assessment & Planning Unit) criteria and coordinates patient movement between the Emergency Department (ED) and MAPU and other areas of the hospital or home. This role has very close links with Medical staff and allied health to ensure that patients are in the right place at the right time. This role uses assessment skills to make decisions about appropriate placement of patients.
**About the Team/Service Location**
MAPU is a 16 bedded unit aimed at assessing, treating and supportively discharging medical and surgical patients back home within a 24 hour timeframe. The unit works hard to enable efficient and effective patient flow through the system. This means taking direct admissions from GP practices and also ED with the aim of providing a thorough assessment and MDT review to enable a safe and timely discharge home.
**About you**
Ideally you will have:
- Current MAPU experience
- Good understanding of MAPU philosophy and Criteria
- Good Assessment skills
- Able to think outside the box
- Good communication skills
