About the Technology Architecture Branch

The branch provides strategic direction and technology advice to the organisation through our architecture professional services and capability. It is a small group of specialist roles the cover our business and technology domains. The function of the branch is to be across all incoming change initiatives and work with Heads of Digital and Programmes, the PMO, and Digital Data and Insight group to ensure we increase digital enablement.

**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
The Manager Architecture, being based in Wellington this critical role is responsible for managing our professional services team of Business and Domain Architects who are accountable for the technology and business technology domains across MBIE

This position plays a key role in the development of the Technology and Architecture capabilities and will be required to work across the team to ensure we are managing our technology assets, have clear roadmaps for technology and business domains and support the overall strategy and governance practices.

**The role will be required to**:

- Lead and inspire our technology and business domain architects.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across the organisation to ensure we make good technical decisions based on our strategic direction.
- Work closely with the Heads of Digital and Programmes to plan and support the delivery of our strategic initiatives.
- Ensure that Technology Roadmaps exist across Business and Technology Domains to highlight critical decision points over the next 1-3 years.
- Grow and develop the architecture team to maintain currency across new technologies and identify risk and opportunities within our existing technology platforms.

- In depth knowledge and 10+ years’ experience in ICT architecture
- Extensive and proven people leadership experience including engaging and motivating teams and individuals.
- Strong influencing skills and a proven ability to develop and maintain the trust and credibility with senior leaders as well as establishing and building
- Strong working relationships; internal, cross-government, ministerial and advisory boards
- Highly developed decision making skill and processes.
- Highly developed analytical skills and the ability to extract information, identify patterns and trends, and integrate information from multiple sources.
- Able to deliver successful outcomes in a demanding environment.
- A good understanding of New Zealand public sector dynamics, including the workings of Government with broad policy knowledge and an understanding of key commercial, procurement and financial issues related to infrastructure.
- Tertiary qualification in a business or technology related discipline or equivalent experience
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
