Te Tari Taiwhenua, The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) is seeking a seasoned Enterprise Architect (EA) to lead a newly established Enterprise Architecture capability for the Department. This is a new and exciting opportunity to drive the creation and evolution of the EA practice for DIA.
Organisational Capability and Services | He Pou Aronui is a branch dedicated to supporting the rest of the Department to succeed by providing corporate services that help business groups and people within DIA to make the best contribution to New Zealand.
As the Manager Portfolio Architecture, you will be responsible for leading a team of enterprise architects and the development of an effective enterprise architecture practice that sets the direction for digital in collaboration with key stakeholders across business groups in DIA to support business goals aligned to the industry's and DIA's best practices.
You will also be responsible for the tools, standards, and processes to ensure effective delivery and governance of architecture across DIA. This includes the communication and championing of the architecture practice to the solution architecture team and oversight of all enterprise architecture.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Driving the development of an enterprise architecture practice that is best of breed and a model for the public sector.
- Developing and improving methodologies for the effective definition, maintenance and governance of the enterprise architecture
- Understanding, advocating, and supporting the enterprise's business and IT strategies
- Leading the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to derive enterprise business, information, technical and solution architecture requirements; analysing industry, technology, and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the enterprise
- Analysing the current business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
- Leading and facilitating the creation of governing principles to guide solution decision making for the enterprise
- Ensuring that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities (such as handling waivers) are associated with EA compliance
- Leading the development of an implementation plan for the EA, based on business requirements and IT strategies, overseeing EA implementation, ongoing EA refinement activities, and the documentation of all EA design and analysis work
- Providing guidance to Solution Architecture teams to fit solutions to architecture across all viewpoints
- Defining organisational requirements for the resources, structures, and cultural changes necessary to support the EA
- Promoting the EA process, outcomes, and results to the organisation, including the enterprise's IT and business leaders; this includes assessing and communicating the achievement and impact of the EA, as well as leading the development and execution of an EA communication and education plan.
