**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

In this role you will be supporting our tāngata in our respite whare. This is a really busy whare that has two residential tāngata and three respite beds. You will be part of a team who do amazing work with our tāngata that have complex needs; it is both challenging and rewarding and you will make such a tangible difference to the lives of the people you support.

You will be supporting with every day needs such as bathing, food preparation, administering medication and a variety of other duties which enable an independent and great quality of life. It’s important to understand this is a whare/home environment for our tāngata so the more you can do to make it feel like a home the better.

We work to a rotating 24/07 roster, typically the shifts are:

- 7am-3pm.
- 3pm-11pm.
- 11pm-7am (sleep over includes an additional allowance).
- 1pm-9pm.

The roster includes working days, evenings, sleepovers and weekends.

We are ideally seeking applicants who can work between 32 and 80 hours a fortnight.

We will train you and you will start to achieve your Level 2 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing as part of your Induction. With on-the-job training and our ongoing support, you will achieve Level 3 and Level 4, which increases your rate of pay.

We offer a comprehensive curriculum of industry compliance training and personal/professional development opportunities. Any training that you need to work in this whare will be provided.

You may not have previous experience, but you enjoy supporting those around you in your own life, you are the ‘go to’ support person and you are naturally drawn to helping others.

You may have significant life experience which includes caring for a loved one; you may be tired of manual labour and looking for something more fulfilling; you may be retired or now able to work around other whanau commitments. You may even be studying and just starting out in your career.

Your skills will include:

- Working with diversity.
- A wide range of communications skills.
- The ability to set goals and work towards them.
- A good level of physical fitness and mobility.
- Being comfortable in assisting with personal cares.
- The ability to be inventive in the kitchen, you enjoy cooking
- Prior experience with manual hoist/support of high wheelchair users (advantageous)
