Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This role reports to and will work closely alongside the Chief Advisor People & Culture to support the Interim National People & Culture Lead. The Principal Advisor will provide strategic advice across the People & Culture function - which includes health workforce, employment relations, HR, organisational development, health and safety and change. The role will require written advice to Ministers and the Te Whatu Ora board, ensuring that we take a sound, coherent and well-articulated approach to initiatives to strengthen and better support our workforce.
The Principal Advisor will support the business with operational policy, strategy and Ministerial servicing, ranging from Ministerial advice to supporting delivery planning and reporting. There is opportunity to help manage the political interface, including Parliamentary questions and public communications.

- Political nous and savvy, and comfort operating at the political interface
- The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, as well as wider communities and experts, to co-design solutions
- Skills at breaking down complex problems, and design elegant, innovative solutions, using a combination of analytical, empathetic and / or design thinking approaches
- Skills for clear and effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders.

This role requires and/or would benefit from the following
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
