Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
A PARS nurse should have at least 5 years' experience in intensive care and/or ED setting and should have experience caring for patients that may require airway management including ventilated patients, both adult and paediatric patients. You need to keep a cool head under pressure and be comfortable caring for deteriorating and complex patients. You will need to have good communication skills and an understanding of escalation processes in order to appropriately advocate for an unwell patient.

The Patients at Risk team is a supportive team of senior nurses who will guide and share their skills with others. If you have excellent communication skills, are a team player and want a challenge, this could be the perfect position for you.

Patients at Risk (PAR) Nurse is an enhanced nursing role, which focuses on patient safety and is an outreach of Critical Care. The foundation for their practice is prevention, early detection and early intervention for actual or potential deteriorating patients. It formalises a pathway via the Early Warning Score System utilised by Adult (EWS), Paediatric (PEWS) and Maternity (MEWS) care areas, providing a proactive care model of patient safety.
