Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Why we are recruiting to the role We are looking for a highly motivated senior nurse to work within the Surgery and Cardiology Resources Nurses team at Waikato Hospital. This would be an ideal position for someone with experience and a keen interest in colorectal and peritonectomy surgery. You will incorporate the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) model into the management of this patient group and have experience with stoma care.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist role will be based in the Surgery and Cardiology Resources Nurses team and involve you educating, supporting and following up colorectal and peritonectomy patients' pre and post procedure for both acute and elective surgery. You must be confident in your approach and have a comprehensive knowledge of colorectal surgery and stoma care, with the ability to work independently.

This role requires excellent communication and negotiating skills and the ability to work within the team to achieve optimal outcomes for patients and their whanau.

Required skills & experience you will need to be consider for this role:

- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- At least 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse
- Knowledge of colorectal surgical process and previous general surgical nursing experience
- A current annual practicing certificate
- Completed a Professional Development and Recognition Programme - at proficient and/or above
- Post graduate qualification
- Proven history of advanced assessment skills
- The ability to work independently
- Adaptability, flexibility and agility
