Our partner company is looking for a Butcher that would be assigned in Christchurch / Wellington / Auckland. This is a company built on its passion for people and service. They supply temporary, permanent and seasonal people to government, defence, education, and other various and diverse industries in New Zealand.

Position Description:

- To provide the trade skills, knowledge, experience, and competency to undertake boning and trimming duties and to comply with the specified requirements of the contract works in a safe and timely manner, across the Meat Processing Industry.
- To perform all butchery duties assigned, ensuring that all duties are carried out in a safe, competent, and timely manner ensuring all duties are carried out efficiently and effectively with a quality and cost-effective service being delivered to our clients.
- To deliver a professional standard of customer service and maintain a positive and cooperative attitude towards clients, consultants, management, team members, and members of the public and to promote and model the company behaviour competencies and values.
- To work as part of the team to ensure ‘Best Practices’ principles in all activities are being used to achieve operational excellence and planned targets.
- To follow sanitation standards when cleaning equipment counter tops, and working areas in order to prevent meat contamination, dependent on the department you may be boning at height while harnessed.
- To follow all health and safety protocols put in place.

Key Responsibilities:

- Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery.
- Cut, bone, or grind pieces of meat.
- Slicing and trimming pre portioned cuts of meat as required.
- Weigh, wrap, and display cuts of meat
- Cut or prepare meats to specification or customer’s orders.
- Store meats in refrigerators or freezers at the required temperature
- Keep inventory of meat sales and order meat supplies
- Clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards.
- Sharpen and adjust cutting equipment - Band saw, meat slicer.

Requirements & Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years work experience within a meat processing industry
- Hands on experience in working within the meat processing industry.
- Excellent understanding of boning and trimming techniques and methods
- Proficient in using knives, grinders and cleaning equipment.
- Willingness to always follow safety guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail
- Maintain clean and tidy work area.
- Have a tidy appearance and be a good team member

**Salary**: $27.00 - $31.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Wellington: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (required)
