This is an interesting and varied role where you will work closely with patients, whānau and staff to solve problems using a wide range of improvement and innovation approaches. Projects you will work on will range from the use of new technology solutions and developing new devices, to changes in workflow to reduce variation, save time and improve quality, safety and experience.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a desire to be part of shaping the future of the Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district health system, with a focus at Hutt site by creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred system that will improve the health and wellbeing for our communities.
The Improvement & Innovation Advisor will report to the Service Manager, Women's and Children's Service at Hutt with a dotted line of reporting to the Improvement & Innovation Manager for the Centre of Clinical Excellence at Capital, Coast, and Hutt Valley District, supporting them to build capability and imbed a culture of continuous quality improvement and innovation across the district to improve outcomes for patients/consumers and their whānau.

The Women's and Children's Health service provides quality and safe care as experienced by women, babies and their whānau of the Hutt Valley. You will be part of a friendly, dynamic and supportive team who are dedicated to improving health outcomes for our communities, with a strong focus on equity for Māori, Pacific peoples and people with disability. Our passionate team work across the Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district. We value collaborative working and support staff and services to grow their improvement and innovation skills and capabilities and run their improvement and innovation initiatives.
The Improvement & Innovation team are part of the Centre of Clinical Excellence which supports the district to become a learning, pro-equity organisation where innovation and quality improvement is embedded in the practice of all staff. The Centre contributes to improved health outcomes for all our patients by raising the visibility of quality and safety, strengthening clinical governance and developing innovative practices to transform the district.

**Key skills and experience**:

- A relevant quality improvement or innovation qualification
- Proven experience in managing improvement and innovation projects through to completion
- Experience with the 'data for improvement' approach
- Proven ability to challenge the status quo and view things from different perspectives; fostering innovative thinking and continuous improvement
- Able to think outside the square and assist the development of innovative solutions
- Demonstrated competency in computer skills using a range of Microsoft packages including QIMacros
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of successfully presenting to or facilitating small and large groups
- Coaching experience desirable
- Understanding of and a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o WaitangiE pā ana ki a tatou ' About us
