The public health sector is under transformation to better serve its whaanau and community due to the need for radical change for our Maaori population amplified by the Waitangi Tribunal WAI 2575 Stage One Report. The Te Whatu Ora Waikato is committed to meeting obligations of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) for Maaori, as set out in He Korowai Oranga (the Maaori Health Strategy) and Te Pae Tata (Interim New Zealand Health Plan). The Graphic designer role within the National Public Health Service Waikato will contribute to driving this work. The service is committed to championing the use and valuing of Maatauranga Maaori, Tikanga Maaori and Te Ao Maaori intelligence. This role is a permanent role.

**Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service**
As part of the Public Health Intelligence and Policy team, this role will be responsible for delivering the following:
- Create, format and update graphics, design and layout for print collateral - reports, presentations, posters, forms, invitations etc.
- Designs and develops digital content to support information, engagement and promotional communications, tailored to an intended audience and purpose
- Include Māori art and design principles and cultural concepts into Public Health projects in order to highlight and represent diversity authentically
- Support best practice through quality activities e.g. Consultation with Māori cultural advisors and Kaitiaki within the Waikato region and connecting with mātauranga (Māori knowledge) to ensure projects and documents are culturally inclusive
- Create digital elements and design for websites, microsites and intranet including moving and still images and graphics
- Able to work with communications/print/design/photography/audio visual teams to produce resources/design elements that are compatible for both web and print and for displays
- Support the National Public Health Service Te Manawa Taki to produce graphic design requirements for print and digital formats
- Works with current digital channels and platforms including website, intranet, social media, video, online magazines and newsletters (see Experience/Knowledge below for platform details)
**Mōu | About you**
The National Public Health Service Waikato is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to work in the Public Health Intelligence and Policy team.
Required skills & experience you will need to be consider for this role:
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Graphic design experience within a large, complex environment
- Advanced knowledge of graphic design software including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Experience using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere
- Knowledge of techniques, history and tikanga, Māori patterns, designs and cultural practices relating to ngā toi (the arts)
- Working knowledge and experience using photographic and video imaging and editing tools such as Premiere Pro, Bridge, Lightroom
- Working knowledge and experience using online newsletter services e.g. Mailchimp, Beepro, SendinBlue
- Ability to shoot and edit video
