**Academic Staff Member - Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) - Te Paetahi Akoranga**

Join our team and inspire the next generation of early childhood education (ECE) teachers We are seeking a passionate, fully registered ECE kaiako to contribute to the delivery of our Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) - Te Paetahi Akoranga programme.

As a collaborative, well-organised educator with excellent communication skills, you will play a key role in ensuring ākonga success and well-being. A deep understanding of te ao Māori, fluency in te reo me ōna tikanga, and strong pedagogical knowledge - including in second language acquisition - are essential, reflecting our commitment to Tiriti-informed pedagogy.

This role includes classroom teaching, mentoring, and visiting ākonga in ECE settings, attending noho Marae, modelling best practice and helping them grow into skilled, reflective kaiako.

Hold a current full practising certificate (NZ Teaching Council)

Be committed to te ao Māori and culturally sustaining pedagogies

Be fluent in Te Reo Maori
Be actively engaged in professional learning and research
Have experience teaching, mentoring, and supporting adult learners

Be a positive and collaborative team member
Hold a full New Zealand driver’s license

**About Te Paetahi Akoranga - Bachelor of Teaching (ECE)**

Te Paetahi Akoranga - Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) is a Tiriti-informed initial teacher education programme that prepares ākonga to become skilled, reflective, and culturally grounded early childhood kaiako. Rooted in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and informed by both te ao Māori and te ao Pākehā, the programme emphasises ako (reciprocal learning), whanaungatanga (relationships), and manaakitanga (care).

Through a combination of academic study and professional practice, ākonga engage deeply with the theory and practice of ECE. The programme encourages critical reflection, collaborative learning, and strong connections with whānau, hapū, iwi, and the wider ECE community. Graduates leave not only as qualified teachers, but as committed advocates for tamariki, equity, and culturally responsive teaching in Aotearoa.
