**Company Description**
Our Technical Services Division is a specialist team of highly qualified staff with purpose-built processing facilities and specialised Dangerous Goods transport. WM New Zealand processes hazardous and liquid wastes safely with full compliance to government and council laws and by-laws governing liquid, hazardous and biomedical waste disposal.
**Job Description** About the Role**:
**About You**:
You are an experienced technical leader with a deep understanding of engineering standards, hazardous waste, and regulatory compliance. Your expertise spans both strategic planning and hands-on project management. You thrive in leadership roles and are highly proficient in technical project delivery.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and maintain engineering standards for hazardous waste processing plants.
- Create practical solutions conforming to NZ safety and environmental standards.
- Prepare and maintain essential documentation like PFDs, P&IDs, and Hazardous Area Classification drawings.
- Provide strategic leadership in technical areas such as environmental, chemical, and mechanical engineering.
- Lead, coordinate, and manage technical contributions for capital works projects.
- Deliver projects within set timelines and budgets while managing risks and stakeholder communication.
- Mentor and develop technical staff, ensuring they meet industry-leading standards
**Qualifications**
- A tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering (or relevant field).
- Advanced knowledge of NZ Hazardous Substances Regulations.
- Strong project management background, including financial oversight of capital projects.
**Skills & Experience**:
- Leadership experience in technical and engineering roles.
- Expertise in hazardous waste management and environmental protection.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.
- High proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and standard office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven safety management track record in technical projects.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures
