**Instrumentation and Automated Technician**
This position works with the Maintenance team to make sure that equipment is working properly, safely, and efficiently. The Instrumentation Control & Automation Technician receives work orders from and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager. The Technician is a member of the Maintenance and Engineering team and will typically be under mínimal direct supervision. Detailed time records and work performed for each Work Order will be reported to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager on a daily basis.
**Key duties & Responsibilities**:
- Calibrate, adjust and repair instruments and associated equipment and/or remove and replace their defective parts.
- Work with electronic control systems including microprocessors, sensors, and final control elements used in automated processes.
- Installation of control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment and measuring its levels, pressures, temperatures, flow, and analytical processes.
- Undertake emergency troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment to determine problems associated with the machines.
- Conduct tests related to functional performance on instrumentation and control systems and maintaining test equipment.
- Ensure to commission instrumentation effective with repair and replacement.
- Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities.
- Consult manuals, reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs.
- Assist in performing analysis on all projects by visiting the location.
- Ensure conformance with environmental and safety requirements commensurate with executing the required instrument maintenance or replacement activities.
- Comply with all instructions, classifications, and prioritization systems for work order and job tasks completion.
- Conduct tasks related to the maintenance and operations team.
**Job Qualifications**:
- Graduate of Engineering Technology course or any related field.
- 5 years experience working with or around electrical, mechanical, and chemical equipment and systems used in water, wastewater, and crude oil production, collection, treatment, and distribution operations.
- Has, or has the ability to obtain within one year of hire, an Electrician Certification from EWRB.
- Possess a deep understanding of Ethernet communication, Control Logic, and Programmable Logic Control (PLC).
- Demonstrate knowledge concerning general safety protocol and procedures regarding field operations.
- Possess broad-based knowledge in order to successfully troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve problems that relate to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, etc.
- Electro-mechanical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge in the areas of computers and electronics which relates to circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer software, and hardware.
Critical thinking ability requires using logic and reasoning in order to identify the strength and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems in both technical and non-technical areas.
- Must possess good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
