This role is an excellent opportunity to support the Ministry to enhance the security and resilience of its offshore network.
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
This role provides expert analysis of the security risks facing MFAT operations, with a particular focus on our offshore network. It is focused on providing early awareness of security risks across the MFAT network, robust analysis of risk levels, and expert advice on mitigations and controls. This role is a central enabler of the Security and Organisational Resilience Division at MFAT, and works closely with other MFAT divisions and posts to provide timely and reliable advice and support on security risks. The role also engages with the wider intelligence community including CTAG.
- Operate across a range of information sources to create intelligence products that support the Ministry to forecast, understand and respond to a range of risks in the security and resilience space
- Produce evidence-based reporting and advice, drawing on reliable sources and following robust analytical processes
- Provide specialist advice and support on emerging threats across the network

The full salary range for this role is $87,672 to $118,615 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. We expect to appoint depending on your level of experience.

We’d like to hear from you if you are an experienced Risk Analyst with the following skills and experience:

- Minimum 4-5 years experience in identifying and analysing reliable sources of information on security and resilience risks
- Leadership of risk assessment processes
- Development and/or implementation of risk frameworks in a security context
- Expertise providing policy advice
- Experience in informing stakeholder relationships and having influence in interagency settings

Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work. If you are just starting on this journey that’s OK too - as long as you have a willingness to learn and a desire to develop your cultural capability.
