**Speciality Clinical Research Nurse, Auckland City Hospital and Starship Hospital**
**Senior Role, Fixed term, 0.8 FTE (negotiable), Monday to Friday role starts asap until end of 30th April 2025**
**Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity**
Work in a speciality role with local and global impact, by contributing to the Southern Hemisphere Influenza and Vaccine Effectiveness Research Surveillance (SHIVERS) study, the Assessing the Reduction of Recurrent admissions with OM-85 for preschool Wheeze (ARROW) study and the Preventing recurrent ALRIs (PETAL) study.
Your day-to-day tasks would include:
- Screening all new admissions for eligible symptoms from provided admissions lists and creating a screening log, determining those who fit the criteria for interviewing or enrolment
- Visiting the relevant wards to interview and/or obtain consent from patients, and/or their parents/caregivers/whanau
- Liaising with ward staff to confirm appropriateness of interviews/timing, Education to ward staff about the purpose of the studies
- Specimen collection (e.g. nasopharyngeal swabs, blood collection)
- Following correct precautions and protocols at all times and able to educate others on the same including staff, patients
- Administering study medications, facilitating follow up, assisting with completion of study diaries, surveys etc
- Recording and reporting on adverse events
- Visiting participants and their family at home to complete study follow ups

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
Your excellent analysis, communication, problem solving skills and attention to detail are essential in order to obtain this data, enter it and interpret it effectively. You must be able to work autonomously, with ward teams, and as part of a supportive senior nursing team committed to effective/evidenced based nursing practice.
You will receive full training as part of your orientation. The role is Mon - Fri daytime hours. Professional development encouraged and supported.
Ability to job share with part-time hours.
- Work in Adults and Paediatric Services to support our study along with other research nurses
- Be knowledgeable about data entry and the Te Toka Tumai computer programmes
- Undertake this role according to Good Clinical Research Practice standards
- Preferably have Research experience - although not essential
