We have an opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to take on this senior signal’s role within KiwiRail. Reporting to the General Manager of Engineering, the role of Professional Head - Signals supports our Planning & Engineering teams in delivering technical excellence, continuous improvement, and satisfaction to our customers and stakeholders. Our Engineering team have five core functions of Engineering Design, Engineering Advice, Long-Term Asset Management, Technical Standards, and Assurance. This role will champion KiwiRail towards ensuring we technically deliver best practice in the signals discipline.

**The primary role responsibilities include**:

- Setting the strategic direction for the signals discipline
- Setting the signals technical standards for KiwiRail
- Ensuring signals risks are identified and appropriately managed
- Providing signals technical advice to the wider business
- Conducting technical reviews, approving in
- house signals designs, and accepting signals designs conducted by external parties

**He aha ngā pukenga e rapu ana tatou - What skills are we looking for?**

To be considered for this role you will have extensive engineering and asset management experience in railway signals engineering. You will be highly experienced in capital works planning including maintenance and renewal processes and be a seasoned design professional. You will have proven experience developing and implementing standards and codes within signals and telecommunications across rail environments and have lead engineering technical teams in a similar environment. Combining a collaborative working style with an ability to influence outcomes, your knowledge, experience and opinions are well received and respected.
