The work is critical, and we need a highly capable principal advisor that is passionate about and able to contribute to improving cancer control in Aotearoa.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team**:
Te Aho o Te Kahu was established in December 2019 to provide national leadership and oversight for cancer control as well as system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in Aotearoa.

Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga - What is the purpose of this position?
This role will have responsibility for working closely with other members of the Clinical Advisory Team to:

- both lead and participate in the strategic direction, prioritisation and planning and delivery of programmes and projects that are evidence based focused on inform solutions that meet, achieve and improve Te Aho o Te Kahu objectives
- focus on providing high quality strategic and operational cancer clinical advice, across Te Aho o Te Kahu programme of work
- identify opportunities for the improvement of analysis and advice in the health and wider social sector and recommend practical solutions
- work with other teams across Te Aho o Te Kahu to ensure deliverables are focused on achieving fewer cancers, better survival and equity for all.

**Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako - Skills & Experience**:
You will be enthusiastic, confident and outcomes focused. Experience in a cancer-focused role would be considered an advantage, as would a working knowledge of the machinery of Government. In addition, you will need to demonstrate:

- A strong ability to initiate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
- A strong ability to obtain, appraise, and synthesise complex information to inform policy decision-making
- Excellent written communication skills, including experience in tailoring communication materials to different audiences such as clinicians, patients and whānau, government officials and members of parliament
- A working knowledge of Māori health priorities, tikanga and kawa

This role is band 19G which has a salary range of $119,550 to $159,400. Salary offered will be based on skills and experience.
