**Legal Team Manager - PAL2 or PAL3 Lawyer**

The Public Defence Service (PDS) is looking for an experienced criminal defence lawyer, holding a PAL2 or PAL3 listing, with leadership and management skills, for our Waitakere office.

As a Legal Team Manager, you will lead a small team of lawyers and help create the working environment and culture that encourages our people to thrive. You will have the leadership skills to manage, develop and motivate a team of lawyers and the ability to relate to a wide range of people.

You will find challenge and satisfaction with a varied caseload, including trials and appearances. You will have expert and talented colleagues around who will mentor you and support your development to the next level of your career. The PDS is well known for its comprehensive professional development programme in criminal litigation and is considered an excellent training ground and full of opportunities for a successful legal career.

You will also have the technical skills and PAL2 or 3 qualification to represent clients as part of an interesting caseload and be passionate about delivering the best outcomes for your clients, enjoy strengthening a positive culture and supporting the performance and skill development of others.

To be successful in the role you must:

- Be an experienced criminal lawyer and have a PAL2 or 3 listing
- Be a motivated and inspiring leader
- Demonstrate drive, optimism and a delivery-focus to make things happen and achieve outcomes
- Be able to develop and maintain a range of effective business relationships
- Model high personal and professional standards

**Utu ā-tau/Salary**

The appointing salary for this role will be between: $103,540 - $135,211 for PAL2 and $120,397 -$157,225 for PAL 3 based on skills and experience.
