Design Director

This is a fantastic permanent role for a senior level Design Director, who is looking to be part of an agency based in Ponsonby, Auckland and lead this agency into new territories in the event and experiential space.

joining an innovative agency with a diverse client base, ranging from start-ups and big corporate clients, through to big name brands creating crafted digital experiences, intuitive digital solutions
and campaigns. You will bring 15 years of experience and work directly with the Creative Director.

**The Breakdown**:

- This is a senior position to support and work alongside the Creative Director as the 2IC
- Highly strategic, digital first, experienced in end-to-end delivery of creative projects for clients
- Ability to brainstorm and ideate in-situ collaboratively with senior leaders
- Deep understanding of design execution across all digital, creative tech, and experience production
- Fast paced commercial studio experience a must -management of people and budgets, understanding of client needs and client service delivery model
- You will be incredibly articulate and a strong communicator, able to lead creative development conversations across the creative team, within the wider business, and with clients Champion creative, collaborative and commercial excellence

**Summary of Experience**:
In this role, you are a leader and supervisor AND on the tools, working within a collaborative and fast paced environment. You will have proven experience in supervising junior designers, making sure all deadlines are met with all work completed to the client’s and company’s requirements.

Understanding, championing, and role modeling best practice agency processes, you will be on top of the commercial realities of delivering design and creative work to brief, working within allocated timeframes and budget requirements.

Effective communication is pivotal to the role, with a strong ability to absorb information, and accurately interpret feedback into actionable steps for the team. Confident and articulate presenter - the ability to be client-facing and successfully sell ideas internally and externally.

You will have a strong love for design, analysing trends & best practices and sharing this knowledge to nurture a high performing creative environment. Upholding excellence, supporting the creative process, organized and systematic with file management, along with a solid understanding of technical considerations - print / digital best practices and optimal use of Adobe Suite.

Working and supporting across creative proposals, experiential (live, hybrid & virtual), digital and creative technology deliverables, content / film, and marketing material. You are a holistic, strategic thinker, with a firm handle on understanding client briefs & contributing successful outcomes.

A strong knack for visual storytelling, deciding how best to organize and present concepts into a single-minded client proposal.

Empathetic, energetic and mature **, **you will bring an air of calm into the day to day, and know when to turn things up

**General Responsibilities**:

- Support the Creative Director and Traffic Manager across day-to-day deliverables of projects
- Lead design across all digital, UX, CX and future creative technologies they work with
- Support and design direct visual elements ensuring all project elements are on brand, best practice and creative excellence
- Together with the CD, sign off on design before it goes to client and or suppliers
- Help foster a positive creative workplace culture
- Champion the brand across client proposals and all things external and internal
- Upkeep and maintain internal processes and folder structures for efficiencies
- Deadline driven, ensure project plans / milestones from concept to production to final delivery is met on time
- Work collaboratively with account managers, directors, suppliers, and creative team
- Design direct briefed elements and oversee pre-production, live shoot, and post-production
- Liaising with artworkers, designers, photographers, illustrators, talent, and copywriters to ensure outputs are executed on point to the overarching hero creative
- Adherence to budgets and ensure the team is working to billables
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills, frequent and proactive communication to ensure projects run smoothly and watchouts are identified Multitask and prioritize workload to ensure work of the greatest importance to the business is undertaken to a high standard
