Reference: 41973 - Location: Wellington - Work Type: Fixed term full time - Expertise: Newsgathering, News & Current Affairs Content - JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for a talented Producer for Q+A who will research, wrangle, organise and motivate talent and staff to meet the "Q+A" and TVNZ programme brief. Q+A brings our viewers the important political interviews and discussions of the week, taking a close look at politics, economic and global events. It is made with the support of NZ on Air. **The opportunity - Te tūranga** In this role, you will report to the Executive Producer - Q+A and be responsible for: - Assisting in production of the political programme "Q&A" that will be judged on the support it gets from stakeholders and the traction it gets from mainstream media, ratings growth in a non-prime time slot and in the wider community. - Initiating and producing segments of this show across multiple platforms while working within tight financial confines. - Establishing and maintaining familiarity with the week's political news through a strong network of contacts and usual outlets, i.e. newspapers, briefings, wire service, radio and other sources. - Identify and develop major, headline triggering, fresh political stories ideas appropriate to programme brief. Expand and research stories when required, new angles discovered and pushed on show and other platforms. - Communicate programme requirements to the staff, resources crew, hotel and NCA where applicable. - Lead in the structure, writing and research of programme. **This is a fixed term contract.** **What we're looking for - Tā mātou e kimi nei** To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone that has the following: - Proven experience in news media - interested in news and current affairs and enjoys debating issues - Have a strong general knowledge and keen awareness of local, national, and international news events. - A thorough legal knowledge across BSA/defamation issues, especially given 'live' nature of show. - Good energy levels and is driven and focused. - Demonstrates high levels of integrity and honesty. - Proactive and flexible, shows initiative - Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, strong attention to detail - Strong organisational and prioritisation skills. - Focused, and performs well under pressure, with ability to work to deadlines. - High level decision-making skills. **Why we're here - Tā mātou tino kaupapa** Te Reo Tātaki (TVNZ) translates to "the leading voice" and our kaupapa (purpose) is to "inspire the conversations of Aotearoa."
