**About the Ministry of Transport**

The Ministry of Transport is the system leader for transport in New Zealand. The Ministry is the government’s principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment. We play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working efficiently and effectively.

The Ministry is a small, agile, and friendly organisation which maintains a culture that is collaborative, bold, and invested.

**About the opportunity**

As we are a small Ministry, you will be given exposure right across the organisation and will work on some high priority projects in the Safety team.

You will:

- Support the development of the road safety policy
- Support legislative changeDevelop your core policy skills by contributing to a range of policy advice as well as build your knowledge on the basics of public sector skills such as OIA and Ministerial responses.
- Based on the work or support that may be required, this position is Wellington based only.

**What you’ll bring**

You may be a newly qualified graduate or an up-and-coming Adviser looking to make the move to a high-profile central government organisation.

You will need the following:

- Strong written and verbal communication
- Good problem-solving ability
- Relationship management skills
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is essential (eg Economics, Public Policy, Law)
- Understanding of economic frameworks would be advantageous

**Salary range**

The base salary for this position is $69,507 per annum (+ KiwiSaver) and is reflective of skills and experiences.
