**Te Whiwhinga mahi** | The opportunity**

The Partnerships & Engagement Directorate is responsible for building and maintaining AT's trust and reputation through outstanding partnerships, engagement, marketing and communications. We represent the voices of customers and communities to ensure AT keeps them at the heart of all it does, sharing and amplifying great stories to effect change and grow understanding.

We are looking for a Principal, Communications and Engagement to join our Major Projects team to oversee important Auckland projects like the Eastern Busway, Airport to Botany and level crossing removals.

This role will work closely with the Head of Major Projects to develop, manage and support implementation of the team's ongoing programme of work. You will provide strategic advice, guidance and mentoring to communications and engagement team members, oversee the delivery of high quality project communications and engagement and manage stakeholder relationships. As well as ensuring there is alignment and consistency in messaging and shared opportunities, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders, partners and customers to build influence and help decision makers to deliver informed outcomes.

**Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?**

You will bring 8-10 years relevant experience in a communication and engagement role including leadership of a team or a major project's communications and engagement, alongside:

- Proven track record of developing and delivering communication and engagement strategies for high profile and complex programmes in transport, infrastructure or a related area.
- Experience providing strategic advice in a fast
- paced environment and identifying and managing risk.
- Managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Experience working in one or more of the following would be highly desirable; the public sector or local government, infrastructure or transport sectors.
- Political nous.
- Strong resilience, optimism and empathy.
- Experience delivering customer focused outcomes.
- IAP2 training or knowledge is preferred.
